Get To Know Me
My name is Anna, and my journey to nursing has been shaped by my cultural background, family experiences, and personal resilience. I was born in Prosser and raised in Yakima in a Hispanic household, where I was taught the importance of hard work, responsibility, and caring for others. My father is an immigrant, and my mother was a nurse, both of whom have influenced my perspective on perseverance and service. As the oldest of five and the only daughter, I took on a significant caregiving role early in life, helping raise my siblings throughout my adolescence. That responsibility shaped my maturity, independence, and deep sense of compassion for others. In addition to supporting my family, I have also had to learn to navigate much of my educational journey. I learned how to stay motivated, manage challenges, and continue pushing forward. At the age of 21, I became a mother, and raising my daughter independently has become my greatest motivation. She is the reason I continue to strive for success and build a future rooted in stability, purpose, and care. I chose nursing because I believe it is one of the most meaningful professions, allowing me to combine empathy, knowledge, and advocacy. As a nursing student, I have been exposed to a variety of clinical experiences that have strengthened my passion for patient-centered care.
